Shipping & Delivery
Where do you ship, and how long does delivery take?
We ship to most countries worldwide.
UK delivery typically takes 2–5 working days for standard tracked delivery, with next working day delivery available on selected orders placed before 2pm.
International delivery usually takes 5–14 working days, depending on your destination.
Exact delivery options and estimated timelines are shown at checkout based on your location.
What delivery options are available, and is shipping tracked?
All GEMSA orders are sent via fully tracked delivery, both within the UK and internationally.
UK orders may require a signature upon delivery.
Once your order has been dispatched, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking details so you can follow your piece every step of the way.
Will I be charged customs, duties, or import taxes?
For orders delivered outside the UK, customs duties, import taxes, or local charges may apply once your parcel reaches its destination country.
These charges are set by local authorities and are the responsibility of the recipient. As regulations vary by country, we’re unable to estimate these fees in advance.
If customs charges are not paid and the parcel is returned to us, a refund will be issued once it arrives back, minus any return shipping and handling costs.
Return & Exchanges
What is your returns and exchanges policy?
We hope you truly love your GEMSA piece. If for any reason it isn’t quite right, you may request a return or exchange within 14 days of receiving your order.
Items must be returned unworn, in their original condition, and in their original packaging.
Exchanges are subject to availability.
Please note that return shipping costs are not covered, unless the item is faulty or incorrect.
If you’re unsure before returning, we’re always happy to guide you.
Which items are not eligible for return?
Unless arrived faulty, for hygiene and safety reasons, the following items cannot be returned or exchanged:
• Earrings
• Personalised or engraved jewellery
• Items marked as final sale

We’re very sorry if something isn’t right, this is not the experience we want for you.
Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery, including photos and your order number.
We will review the issue promptly and arrange a replacement, repair, or refund, depending on the situation.
Jewellery & Materials
What materials are GEMSA jewellery made of?
All GEMSA pieces are crafted from solid 925 sterling silver and 18k gold.
Our gold vermeil jewellery features a thick layer of 18k gold bonded over sterling silver, using a minimum gold thickness of 2.5 microns. This meets the recognised standard for vermeil and ensures lasting wear when cared for thoughtfully.
Many designs are also available in rhodium-plated sterling silver, offering a refined silver-tone finish while maintaining the integrity of the precious metal beneath.
We work with natural semi-precious gemstones and natural freshwater pearls, selected for their character, beauty, and quiet individuality.
Each sterling silver and vermeil piece is stamped “925” to confirm the quality of the silver beneath. Selected designs are additionally stamped “GEMSA,” marking our heavier, signature pieces.
Every material is chosen with intention to feel considered, to wear beautifully, and to become part of a life well lived.
What is hallmarking and how does GEMSA ensure quality?
Hallmarking is the official process of independently testing and certifying precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum. In the UK, this is carried out by one of the recognised British Assay Offices to ensure the metal meets its stated standard of purity.
At GEMSA London, we take hallmarking seriously. Any piece that legally requires hallmarking under UK law is independently tested and hallmarked before it reaches you.
Pieces that meet the UK weight threshold are marked with:
• The metal fineness mark (such as 925 for sterling silver)
• The GEMSA sponsor’s mark, confirming our responsibility as the maker
These hallmarks are a quiet guarantee, not only of metal purity, but of integrity, traceability, and craftsmanship.
Is GEMSA jewellery hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin?
GEMSA jewellery is crafted using high-quality precious metals that are widely considered suitable for sensitive skin.
Our pieces are made from sterling silver (925), 18k gold vermeil, and rhodium-plated sterling silver, and are nickel-free in line with UK and EU regulations.
Many of our customers with sensitive skin wear GEMSA jewellery comfortably. However, as every individual’s skin is unique, we cannot guarantee suitability for all sensitivities.
If you have a known metal allergy or particularly reactive skin, we recommend choosing solid precious metal options, limiting prolonged exposure to moisture, and following our care guidance to keep your jewellery in its best condition.
If you have questions before purchasing, our team is always happy to help you choose the most suitable piece.
Are your gemstones natural, and is GEMSA sustainable?
Yes. At GEMSA, we use natural semi-precious gemstones and natural freshwater pearls.
When a piece is described as featuring amethyst, onyx, moonstone, or any other gemstone, it means the stone is naturally formed, not synthetic or laboratory-created.
Because these stones are natural, each one carries its own subtle variations in tone, texture, and pattern. These differences are part of their character and part of what makes every GEMSA piece unique.
We design our jewellery with longevity and responsibility in mind. GEMSA pieces are made using sterling silver and gold vermeil, materials that are durable, recyclable, and intended to be worn and kept, not replaced.
We work with trusted suppliers who follow responsible sourcing practices for metals and stones, and we consciously avoid fast-turnover or trend-driven manufacturing.
Our packaging follows the same philosophy: thoughtfully designed, made using recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible, and refined to reduce waste without compromising protection or presentation.
While no jewellery brand can claim to be perfectly sustainable, we believe in thoughtful making, small-batch production, and creating pieces that last beyond seasons.

Care & Wear
How should I take care of my jewellery?
GEMSA jewellery is designed to be worn, lived in, and cherished with a little care along the way.
Each order includes a specially designed polishing cloth to gently refresh your piece and help maintain its natural glow. Use it lightly, stroking in one direction rather than circular motions. Please avoid washing the cloth, as this will reduce its effectiveness.
To preserve the beauty of gold-plated and vermeil pieces, we recommend avoiding jewellery cleaning solutions or chemicals. Instead, gentle polishing and mindful wear are all that’s needed.
For longevity, remove your jewellery before washing your hands, showering, swimming, exercising, or coming into contact with water. We also suggest applying perfumes, lotions, and hair products first allowing them to fully absorb, before putting on your jewellery.
With these small rituals, your GEMSA pieces will age gracefully, developing character and softness over time just like the moments they accompany.
How should I store my jewellery?
When your jewellery is not being worn, we recommend storing each piece separately, ideally in your GEMSA jewellery box to prevent tangling, scratching, or unnecessary friction.
Choose a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. This helps preserve the finish and natural beauty of your jewellery over time.
For best care, store similar metals together rather than mixing different finishes in the same compartment for extended periods. These small, thoughtful habits help your pieces remain luminous and well-kept between wears.
How do I keep my jewellery bright over time?
To help your pieces stay luminous:
• Last on, first off. Put jewellery on after perfume, skincare, and hairspray — and remove it before showering, swimming, workouts, or cleaning.
• Keep it dry. Moisture and humidity speed up dullness, so avoid storing jewellery in bathrooms.
• Store with intention. Keep each piece separate in your GEMSA box or a soft pouch to prevent friction and scratching, and to reduce exposure to air.
• Wipe after wear. A gentle polish with your GEMSA cloth after wearing helps remove oils and residue and keeps the surface bright.
• Wear is not the enemy. Regular gentle wear can actually help sterling silver stay brighter than pieces left untouched for long periods.
If your jewellery ever looks a little dull, it’s usually easy to restore its glow with a gentle polish. And if you’re unsure what’s best for your specific piece, you’re always welcome to message us, we’ll guide you personally.
Can I wear my jewellery every day?
Yes, GEMSA jewellery is designed to be lived in, not saved for special occasions. Many of our pieces are perfect for everyday wear and will age beautifully with care.
That said, all fine and demi-fine jewellery responds to daily life. To keep your pieces looking their best over time, we recommend a few gentle habits:
• Remove jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising, or cleaning
• Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and household products
• Store pieces separately when not worn, ideally in your GEMSA box
• Gently wipe your jewellery after wear with the polishing cloth provided
Think of GEMSA pieces as quiet companions made to be worn often, loved deeply, and cared for with intention. With these simple rituals, your jewellery will continue to glow softly, day after day.
If you ever have questions about wearing a specific piece regularly, we’re always happy to guide you.
